To describe Snoopy in one word it would be "gentleman." Shelter volunteers say he's such a calm, polite dog, even with all the activity at shelter. Snoopy is an adorable Beagle mix, approximately 3 years old, who we're rescuing from Oakdale. See how nicely he's sitting in his photo? And he walks on a leash with perfect manners, no pulling, or jumping.

Finnegan is an adorable 6-month old black Wire Hair Pointer/Lab mix we're rescuing from the City of Lake County shelter. He's very sweet, loves people and snuggling with them, and appears to have had some training. He's been great with the little kids he's met and is submissive at the dog park, making friends to play with.

He sleeps through the night and knows the command for "sit' and is learning "lay down." He learned to walk well on leash in just a couple of days. He's treat motivated and eager to please. His fosters took him to the beach and he had a grand time playing and dipping his paws into the water.

The first day in his foster home he had a couple of accidents in the house but since then, hasn't had any, and it seems like he's on his way to being house trained. He goes outside and to go potty on his own when his foster opens the door. He also looks like he'd make a good running partner.

Sky is a friendly 1.5-year old blue pit mix we'd like to rescue from Glen County, but need a foster first. She does fabulous with dogs both big and small. Little dogs have barked in her face and she doesn't respond. She's very quiet in her crate and doesn't bark. 

This stocky, beautiful lady was saved on her very last day by a volunteer who saw something very special in her. Now, she needs a home so this volunteer can bring in other dogs facing their last days...

Teddy is a mellow and loving 7-month old 14-15 lbs. Terrier-Chihuahua mix we rescued from Delano. He's a great guy, very friendly and loving. He's settling in to his foster home and is a total lap dog--loves to be close to you. He sat quietly for his bath and hasn't made a peep in his crate (which he goes into with no problem). He's very sweet and gentle with the small kids in his foster home and they love him in return! He also rides well in the car.

Teddy's foster says he's such an easy dog--very mellow. He loves to be around his people, but hasn't displayed any separation anxiety (he just seems to curl up and take a nap). The little boy in Teddy's foster home will sit on the floor and say, "Teddy, you want to come sit on my lap?" and pats his lap and Teddy goes right over. It's the cutest thing!

ADOPTED! Roscoe is a cuddly and fun 2-year old Greyhound mix we rescued from the City of Lake County shelter. This sweet boy loves to cuddle and will crawl in your lap if you let him. He rides well in the car and is is good with people and other dogs. 

He's having a lot of fun playing with the dog in his foster home. In the words of his foster, "This dog is awesome. A total snuggle bunny, high energy but naps a lot, weighs 48 pounds, likes toys, follows commands, knows his name, and is a delight." He slept in his crate after only a minute of fussing.

Penelope is a 1-year old mix we rescued from Glenn County. She looks to be part Miniature Pinscher, and maybe Italian Greyhound. Penelope doesn't care about labels though - she just wants a family to call her own.

Her foster says she loves to sit in your lap and give kisses, and she walks well on a leash. Penelope also seems to be housebroken and sleeps well in her crate. A quiet girl, her foster hasn't heard her bark. She comes when called, seems to know the word "no". Curious and engaging, she's a real delight of a dog.

Truman is a pit mix estimated at about 9 months old. He was rescued from Lake County and was one of the shelter favorites. He's an adorable dog with lots of puppy energy. He is just bursting with love and wants to make friends wherever he goes. 

He loves kids and playing with other dogs. His intital cat test went well, not showing much interest at all. He's learned the commands for "sit" and is working on "leave it." Out on walks he's enjoying meeting new people and getting petted. When he see birds, he does an excellent "point" so there might be some Pointer in him.

Sandy is a cute 2-year old mix we rescued from Devore. She is a sweet, gentle girl who has the "softest coat ever!" Her foster says she's "a great dog, full of love," and she enjoys riding in the car. She does excellent in her crate, takes treats very gently, knows "sit" and loves the beach. Her first outing to the beach she was right at home and wasn't afraid of the water at all. With some very webbed paws, we think she's got Labrador in her. 

Sandy would be a great dog for a working family since she doesn't need a lot of exercise and has proven she can be left alone, even uncrated, for many hours without touching a thing. Sandy is clearly a "people dog," since she adores human affection and companionship. 

Although typically a mellow and calm dog, she always jumps for joy and shows her excitement when her foster family returns home. Sandy would do best in a home as the only dog since she hasn't done well with other alpha dogs. Sandy has done well with submissive dogs. She is also easily trainable and smart, learning the doggy door right away! 

The shelter labeled her as a Shepherd/Pit mix, but we think she's more of a Shepherd/Lab/Akita mix based on her personality, body shape, coat, webbed toes and head/muzzle. Her adoption fee is $150, which covers her spay and current vaccinations.

Jovi is a sweet, friendly 2-3-year old mix we rescued from Porterville. She gets along with everybody and is doing great in her foster home, with people, the dog, and cat. On walks she's good on leash and friendly with the other dogs she meets. She's very friendly meeting new people, too. 

This compact little lady is the perfect size for any adventure and she does really well in the car. She hasn't had any accidents so far in the house and she sleeps through the night. The shelter labeled her as a Shepherd mix, but we see terrier more than anything. She weighs about 35 lbs. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers her spay and current vaccinations. She's currently being fostered in San Jose.

Rollo is a loving and devoted 10-11 month old black Labrador Retriver mix we rescued from Delano. He's house trained, does well in his crate, and rides great in the car. This smart cookie also knows the commands for sit, shake, and down, and responds well to "no". On an off-leash hike he stayed close to his people and the other dogs. He's very good with other dogs and with people he's familiar with. He's still a clumsy puppy and will need daily activity to be happy and healthy.

As a shy dog, Rollo has shown some hesitation when meeting strangers. At our recent adoption event though he warmed up to meeting new people, taking treats from them and even giving licks. In his new temporary foster home he has met new people with bounding enthusiasm and tail wags, so it seems to just be a matter of Rollo growing his confidence and trust. He also met the family cat face-to-face and gave a sniff and a tail wag, so we think he could do well in a home with cats.

Once he knows you he loves to lean in for pets, a few licks in return, and he'll put his paw up on your leg or arm (as if to say, "hey, you're my friend"). He's done great with all the dogs he met, from small puppies jumping on him to big rambunctious dogs pawing at his face. 

For now he'd do best in a home in a quieter neighborhood with a confident person who can help him gain confidence in new situations with new people. He'd probably also enjoy a home with dogs, particularly a confident dog that would help him improve his shyness. His adoption fee is $300, which includes his neuter and current vaccinations.

Baron is a 2-3 year old Golden Retriever mix we rescued from Delano. He's a friendly, sweet, easy-going big boy who will give you an adorable puppy wiggle when you rub his ears and talk sweetly to him. He loves being close to you. 

He's been doing really well in his foster home where he's shown to be good with other dogs and wonderful with kids (although sometimes clumsy around really small children). Everyone comments on what a sweet a dog he is. His foster says he's very loyal and eager to please. 

Baron is starting to really relax and figure out that his stressful shelter days are behind him! A forever home is just what this boy is looking for. His adoption fee is $250, which covers his neuter and current vaccinations. 

Taffy, like her namesake, is as sweet as can be! We rescued this 9-10 month old pit mix from the streets of Los Angeles by way of a southern California rescuer. She's a favorite of the famous Los Angeles-based pit bull trainer "Dog Man", who is featured on Cesar Milan's programs. She's a very happy, friendly girl, who's fantastic with people and makes friends with everyone. One of her favorite pastimes is doggy play dates. 

She adores to be pet, rubbed, hugged and snuggled. This 55-pound love bug will steal your heart if you let her! She's eager to please and responds very well to correction. She knows sit (even with just a hand signal) and is working on "shake" and "down", and with any young dog you'll want to continue and reinforce her training. She loves lying in the grass and just basking in the simple pleasure of being safe and cared for. 

Back in her temporary foster home in Los Angeles, Taffy had done great with kids and other dogs. She's been tested with all sorts of dogs, even alphas, and she is very submissive and does wonderful with everyone she meets. She's really enjoyed playing with the pups she's met, even doing well with a big pack. In her vet exams she's become a favorite of the vets and technicians. 

She's becoming accustomed to her crate and is house trained. She walks fine on leash but will pull sometimes out of excitement seeing new dogs and people. Her foster notes she's both super cute and has the greatest facial expressions--guaranteed to keep you smiling.

Taffy is also a little silly - she oinks like a pig when she's sniffing around, and she loves the sounds of church bells and will stop on a walk and listen to them. When she's been around outdoor cats and they run, she just playfully flops after them and doesn't demonstrate aggressiveness. Duke is a 1-year old handsome little mix we rescued from Delano along with his best friend Daisy. He was listed as a Chihuahua mix, but his long legs and long snout lead us to believe he might just be an All-American mutt with some Italian Greyhound. 

This little dog is active, affectionate, and intelligent. His foster thinks he'd make for a great agility dog. He's eager to please, loving, funny, playful, and has a gentle mouth. He has learned to sit and wait for his meals (good boy!). He has a great time playing with the dogs in foster home, both big and small.

He loves, loves, loves toys and daily walks. When not being a fun-loving active boy, he is content to curl up in your lap or sleep lying next to you. He's a really friendly boy with a big heart and lots of love to give.

Kayden is a playful and cuddly 14-week old pit bull mix puppy we rescued from Shasta County (who doesn't look all that pit-like). He's super friendly and loving. He's a solid little guy with big paws and a gorgeous wavy tail like a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. 

He gets along with other dogs and has backed away or ignored the cats he's met. Kayden's ready to bound and play his way into your heart! He's still getting his puppy bearings and has adorable clumsy moments.

Ginger is an ultra sweet, submissive 5-month old tan & brindle pit mix puppy we rescued at the very last minute from Tracy. She's very friendly and loves being cuddled. She's done great with all the people (adults, kids), horses, cats, and dogs she's met.

She's got typical puppy energy but it's not over the top. This darling, curious girl will keep you smiling as she "hops" around the yard (she'll run and then hop in the air as if she's catching a ball...but there's no ball).

She's learned the commands for sit, shake, and down already. She sleeps quietly in her crate through the night and is doing well with her potty training. Piper is a super cute 6 to 9-month old Terrier mix we rescued from Glen County. She's a really sweet and lovable little 12lb girl. Piper is a little shy at first, but after she warms up she's very social. She'll just need an adopter willing to socialize her to build her confidence. 

Belly rubs and kisses are her favorite pastimes. As a puppy she's very curious about the world and a big fan of romps and play time. After a nice walk she'd love to curl up next to you for a little rest.

ADOPTED! Wally is a very sweet 2-year old medium-size Boxer mix we rescued from Delano. He loves attention and enjoys running and playing. He does well with the people and dogs he meets and will make a great transition into almost any home. He loves going for walks--they make him happy!

He's doing great in his foster home and is well behaved during the daytime in yard. He's house trained and will give everyone their distance while eating meals at the table. At night, he'd love to up on the bed with you or nearby, but isn't a fan of his crate.

He came into rescue a little unsure of a home environment (he was probably a backyard dog), but he's much more comfortable now and has learned some great house manners. Wally is good with other dogs, but he will chase cats. ADOPTED! Calla is a 1-2 year old terrier mix we rescued from Devore. We think this cutie has some Brussels Griffon in her because of a little underbite. Her foster says she's such an easy dog. She's house trained and sleeps through the night outside of her crate. This 12-pound girl loves to curl up in the sun. She just quietly follows you around and then will gladly curl up next to you. 

She loves the big blue pit bull in her foster home and you can find them curled up together or with Calla laying on top of her! They love to play and chase each other down at the beach. Then back at the house she'd love to find your lap for some cuddle time. 

She can be cautious with new people and in new environments but once comfortable she will gladly hope in your lap for a good cuddle session. Her adoption fee is $250, which covers her spay and current vaccinations.

ADOPTED! Roadie is a 6-month old Viszla mix puppy we rescued from Red Bluff. He's a lovable big boy with an amazingly soft coat. Roadie is also an "epic snuggler" and loves to jump in your arms and lay his head in your lap. This treat-motivated boy is doing a good job learning "sit" right now.

He really enjoys getting to run and play at the dog park to get his energy out. He's submissive with the dogs he's met and if they're aggressive he'll back down. He also appears to be house trained--not one accident yet in his foster home! Upon meeting the foster home's cat he was very excited and would probably chase as a sporting dog, but he wasn't aggressive and was easily distracted by treats. 

He loves to find his way into your lap and will give kisses on command (You'll have to ask his foster about that!). Chew toys are a favorite pastime. Roadie loves being around people, and will ride and wait well in the car. He'll play fetch for fun but isn't fixated on it like some dogs can be. He'll go into his crate for a nap on his own and he'll sleep through the night in it without a peep.

Vizlas are sporting dogs so Roadie will do best with an active household looking to include him on their adventures. He's got big paws so he has some growing to do. As a puppy, he'll appreciate some basic training. His adoption fee is $300, which includes his neuter and current vaccinations.

ADOPTED! Sierra is a cute 1-year old Australian Kelpie mix we rescued from Delano. She also looks like she has Border Collie in her. We love her distinctive white spotted left paw! She's a very nice, happy girl with a great doggy smile--she's ready to enjoy life to its fullest! 

She loves people and being involved with everything going on with them. She's good with other dogs and shelter volunteers told us they think she'd be great with children.

ADOPTED! Cody is a 6-month old Shepherd mix we rescued from Glen County. He's a really sweet boy. More photos and info to come! His adoption fee is $300, which covers his neuter and current vaccinations. 

ADOPTED! Bear is a 2-3 year old Newfoundland/Chow mix we rescued from the City of Lake County shelter. This happy, smiling boy is good with other dogs. He's got a very trademark Newfoundland ("Newfie") profile (click into his album to see). More photos and info to come. He weighs about 65 lbs. His adoption fee is $250, which coves his neuter and current vaccinations.

ADOPTED! Terry is a 2-3-year old Australian Kelpie mix we rescued from Delano. Terry is a very sweet, friendly, and loving girl. This mellow girl does great in a bath and is quiet in her crate at night (although isn't a huge fan of it). She does well on leash, although may pull some here and there. 

She loves people and loves to please. She enjoys getting hugs, ear rubs, and any sort of affection you can give her. Terry has a loving look she'll give you that will melt your heart. She recently weaned puppies back at the shelter but is now getting her figure back and is ready for a new home! Her adoption fee is $250, which includes her spay and current vaccinations.

Angel is a really sweet dog who loves hanging around with people. She enjoys basking in the sun while her foster home does yard work. Angel is two years old, has beautiful Dalmatian spots all over her, weighs 50 lbs and came from a high kill shelter where she got out in the nick of time. 

She has been spayed, is microchipped, has all of her shots, is heartworm negative and ready to find her forever home. Angel would not do well in the city or at a dog park as she is reactive to other dogs but she has been working hard on her manners and she loves going out for walks. A good home for Angel would be out of the city, where she had lots of room.

This girl with a big heart loves people and she would be protective of your home. She would do best being the only dog in the house or possibly with an older, mellow male. Would be fine with older children in the home. Angel loves food and works for her treats and knows how to sit, go down, shake, stay, wait, heel, and does figure eights between your legs. She is an intelligent dog and quick learner. She is a good passenger in the car. She has never wrecked anything in the house and is not a barker but will let you know when someone is at the door.
