My husband and I love dogs but aren't able to commit to a dog of our own right now. Fostering gives a chance to have a dog temporarily while providing a home for a dog in need , which is just super cool. Fostering for Copper's Dream in particular has been such an incredible experience. Copper's Dream staff have been so great and easy to work with. They are incredibly supportive, extremely accessible, and just amazing people in general. We live in a cottage in someone's back yard, and our landlords' have children and pets. We had to make sure we got dogs that our landlords' would be happy with as well, and Copper's Dream has been really great to place dogs with us that work for everyone. Taking in a foster dog is a big responsibility and can be tough, especially when the dogs get adopted. But Copper's Dream provides support and advice through the entire process, and they really ensure that not only the dogs have a great experience, but that the foster parents do as well!

I've wanted to help foster dogs for some time, and then saw an ad on Craigslist for Copper's Dream. They needed a temporary 1-week foster for a dog whose regular foster was going on a vacation. I thought that would be a good way to try it out without any long term commitment, especially since I wasn't sure how my dogs would take it. Though I didn't end up fostering that dog, I did foster another that came in and everything worked out great. It turns out that my dogs enjoy the company, though being "seniors", they can occasionally become annoyed with rambunctious puppies. I have now been fostering for 6 months and have had 10 different pups stay with us until they found their forever homes. We all miss the pups when they get adopted, but, it's so rewarding to know they have found loving homes. My female dog pouts after each pup leaves, but, she gets happy when a new one comes in. I've even done a transport picking up a litter of 5 Pittie puppies and 2 adult dogs from a shelter in Northern CA. All of this, along with the people I meet at the adoption events, has enriched my life more than I can say, and now, I can't imagine not fostering.

Fostering for Copper's Dream Rescue has definitely been a very rewarding experience for me. I grew up volunteering for cat rescues and other animal rescue groups as a socializer and helper at adoption events, but nothing comes close to the job as a foster. The puppies I have fostered through Copper's Dream were not only the cutest little dogs but very well behaved for puppies. The crew at Copper's Dream is always there for you during the duration of fostering. Since I was new to it I kept emailing them tons of questions and they would always send me a quick response and were extremely helpful. You may avoid fostering because you eventually have to give up the puppy/dog but just remember that if it wasn't for you who knows what would have happened to him or her, and besides you will get another one before you know it! Not to mention my dog loves all the little temporary friends she has been getting by my fostering. :)

I would recommend fostering for anyone who wants a dog but can't commit to one at the moment, or for anyone looking to adopt or for anyone who simply loves dogs. I would recommend fostering for Copper's Dream because they are honest, thankful and dedicated to saving lives. Copper's Dream made fostering so easy; they provide a crate, leash and food when they can. They are thankful for any amount of fostering you can do, even if it's just for a week! I tried fostering for another rescue group, but the dog really didn't get a long with my dog so I asked if I could get another dog since it wasn't working out with the dog they gave me. They made me feel so guilty for giving the dog back and were so rude to me! Copper's Dream has never ever treated me that way; they are completely understanding and are so grateful! Fostering is really rewarding because not only are you saving a life but you also get a cuddle buddy. The dogs are usually puppies so you get to foster them at their cutest and sweetest stage. Fostering is the ultimate deed for dog lovers and Copper's Dream makes it happen!

Katrina and Ewan are a mother/son team and have fostered a couple of dogs for Copper's Dream. Katrina says "Fostering dogs has been so rewarding for us. Besides the doggie kisses, the gift of seeing our fosters come out of their shells and become happy dogs again makes it all worth while." Ewan, age 6, says: " I like fostering dogs very much because the dogs we foster are very nice and kind. But I am a little sad when they leave us. I am happy that they are going to a nice home."

We’ve been involved with Copper’s Dream since this
past summer (2010) when I did a dog transport from a shelter and
delivered 3 shelter dogs to Jill at Copper’s Dream. I told her I wanted
to get more involved with a local rescue. Low and behold that afternoon
I received a call that a dog was in need in my city (Redwood City).
Jill gave me all of the information I needed and I was on my way to pick
up the dog! Voila! My first foster with Copper’s Dream.
Her name is Vida and she ended up being very close to giving birth to puppies. I was so nervous that the pups would be born and I wouldn’t know what to do….The entire crew of Copper’s Dream was beside me 100% of the time. They worked feverishly to find a foster that had experience in birthing puppies (not me). Jill was on the phone every day with me and it only took about 2 days before they had her moved to an experienced puppy person. From then on I have been fostering for Copper’s Dream. Usually I do the short term foster but have also done some longer term fosters and actually adopted one of my Copper’s Dream fosters (Liam).
I read a lot of stories about rescues that desert their fosters and leave them holding the bag…NOT COPPER’S DREAM…everyone at Copper’s Dream is always so accessible, flexible and accommodating. They supply everything the dog needs (crate, leash, collar, food and vet expenses). They make it easy to foster!
I transport for a lot of different rescues and, on occasion have fostered for them…No rescue compares to Copper’s Dream! They make fostering the most rewarding experience it can possibly be.
