Zeus
Zeus is a sweet 7-month old Lab max we rescued from Shasta Lake City Shelter. He's the life of the party and loves all the people and dogs he meets. Zeus hops into his crate easily, loves to fetch, and is unphased around the group of young boys at the house. He has seen a cyclist whiz by aside from watching, didn't react. He is easy to walk, listens, doesn't pull. Zeus has a wonderful nature. He's also a quiet guy - making not a peep in his temp. foster home.
As a young pup, he'll need exercise and training to be a happy boy. He weighs about 67 pounds. VIDEOS: Zeus, Zeus playing, Zeus at adoption event

Mae
Mae is a super sweet and social 1-year old Terrier mix we rescued from Glen County. She's doing well with the other dog in her foster home and they enjoy playing with each other. She's also a fan of curling up next to you but doesn't have to be in your lap.
She hasn't had any accidents in the house and sleeps quietly throughout the night in her crate. Mae has also learned how to use the doggie door on her own. She is a curious little girl and hasn't destroyed anything in the house when left alone. She likes to play in the yard with soccer balls, responds well to 'no'.
She's got some cute white patches on her chest and weighs about 15lbs.

Luna
Luna is a 1-year old mix we rescued from Porterville. Luna is the type of dog that needs one to two weeks in a home before her true personality shines through. Once she feels secure in her environment, she is super sweet, loves to cuddle, plays great with dogs big and small, is friendly with cats, and comes when called. However, when Luna first switches homes, she can be defensive towards other dogs, especially when she is walked on leash. As a result, Luna is looking for a family with the patience to help her overcome her insecurities. If you are willing to invest the time to form a bond with this special girl, she will certainly be a faithful, devoted companion for life. Because of Luna's unique personality, it is possible to arrange for a trial period before committing to adoption. Luna has lots of fun with the five dogs in her foster home (of all sizes). When she encounters the cats in her foster home she just gives a sniff and a tail wag and then goes on her way. At a recent visit to a county park, she had fun watching the kids on the playground and the skateboarders whizzing about. She's also done fine walking down very busy streets with lots of car, bicycle, and pedestrian (and surfboard!) traffic. Luna's been left alone in rooms of her foster home and hasn't disturbed a thing. She was kenneled with four Chihuahuas at the shelter and did great with them--shared a bed and was a kind, mother figure. She is listed as a pit/shepherd mix, but we see Shepherd and Cattle Dog.
Bingo
Bingo is an 8lb, 9-month old Jack Russell Terrier-Chihuahua mix we rescued from Delano. Bingo is one of the cutest little guys you will ever see. He's a really nice boy who loves people, gets along with everyone, and has shown to be great with children.
He's so friendly and will run right up to anyone to say "hello." Bingo still has a little puppy in him and loves to have fun. He loves playing with other dogs (games like chase) and enjoys his toys. VIDEOS: Bingo at the shelter, Bingo giving kisses

Yogi
Yogi is an affectionate and easy-going, 2-year old Boxer/Akita mix we rescued from Lassen County. He's a real love with a unique face that has everyone saying, "What a neat looking dog!" Yogi would make a great dog for first time dog owners. Yogi's getting along great with the kids in his foster home and he does well with the dogs he meets. His foster says he's an easy-going, quiet dog. He hasn't had an accident inside and appears house-trained! The only noise he's made is a little howl in response to a loud car alarm. He absolutely loves being rubbed and petted...if you stop he'll push your hand with his head or rub up against for some more (very cute!). If you're just meeting Yogi he might lean against you and sit on your feet if you let him. He's got a cute curled tail like an Akita, and trademark Boxer jowls. He is super playful with a happy-go-lucky puppy personality. Yogi already walks well on a leash and did great on the bus for the hour long ride to the adoption event.
Darby
Darby is a really sweet and playful 1 to 2-year old, 15lb mix we rescued from Glen County. This friendly girl looks to be part Doxie. Her foster says she's very well behaved and interested in making friends with every other animal she meets (including the cat in the home--walks up and gives him a kiss on the nose and goes down into a play stance).
Darby loves walks and is quiet and calm in the home. She will quietly lay down to chew on her toys. She gets to sleep with her foster family and loves it - giving a joyous "hello" in the morning when you wake up. Although she wasn't a fan of her first post-shelter bath, she stood patiently and quietly until it was over.

Diana
Diana is a smart, happy-go-lucky 1-year old Shepherd mix we rescued from Porterville and weighs about 40 pounds. She's a very sweet dog who looks like she might have a little Sharpei in her as well. She loves people and other dogs, is quiet in her crate, and has a fun-loving and outgoing personality. She learned sit and down in just a few minutes --what a smart cookie! As a puppy still, she can be energetic so she'll enjoy going on adventures and long walks with her new family. Until she mellows out a bit with age, she'd probably do best in a home with older children. She has a lot of fun entertaining herself outside in the yard. She's only really known life in the shelter, coming there when she was a puppy. VIDEO: Diana at the beach
Timon
Timon is a sweet, mellow 16-week old hound/pit mix puppy. He loves everybody, walks well on leash, and has mastered "sit." He found a cat in the yard recently and his response was an excited tail-wag and a lick on the face to say hello. The cat wasn't a fan of this idea, so tried to claw him in the face--Timon got the message and just left him alone. He's a dear soul! He also gets along great with other dogs. When his foster home was undergoing construction work he was unaffected by the noise and hustle/bustle of people. Timon is very gentle about taking treats and is food motivated (he'll gladly take your offer of an extra carrot from the chopping board!). He's not a big fan of his crate, but does well at night outside of it. He's a big growing boy and weighs about 45 pounds. He's doing well with potty training and only has an accident when you miss his signals--understandable with a puppy his age.
Jack
Jack is a 2-3 year old mix we rescued from Glen County. He loves being near you and will crawl into your lap if you let him. Otherwise, he's content to lay next to you wherever you're sitting. He's a great cuddler and is getting along great with the dogs and cat in his foster home (his foster says he's the best foster dog yet with the cat!).
Jack looks like he might be house trained! As for his breed, for some reason his shelter labeled him a pit mix...when to us he's very clearly a cattle dog type of mix, maybe with some Pointer in there because of his tall stature/longer legs. Jack doesn't care about labels though! He just wants a family of his own. VIDEO: Jack saying hi to Calla

Kona
Kona is a very handsome and very sweet 6-month old Chocolate Lab mix we rescued from Red Bluff. He was adopted through his foster-to-adopt family.
Rusty
Rusty is a friendly little 4-month old, 8-9 lb Terrier mix puppy we rescued from Delano. Rusty is a happy little guy who wants to play, play, play (whether it's with the big dogs in his foster home, or just with some toys). He's doing well walking on leash and prances when he gets excited. He likes to follow his foster mom from room to room and is doing well with house training (doing a good job of ringing the bells by the door when he needs to go out). Rusty is a sweet little pup who will stay small. VIDEOS: Rusty, Rusty and his cackling witch toy, Rusty and Casey
Charlie
Charlie is 16-week old mix puppy we rescued along with his sister Lucy from Glen County. Even in a new setting he's a good sport, playing well with new dogs, without whining and barking. He also appears to already be house trained already! The shelter paperwork labels them as pit mixes, but we were originally told Boxer mix, which we see, along with maybe American Bulldog. Charlie doesn't care about labels though! He's just looking for love. Charlie and Lucy were left at a boarding kennel by their owner who never came to get them...their time was up in the shelter until Copper's Dream stepped in. VIDEO: Charlie giving kisses
Lucy
Lucy is a 16-week old mix puppy we rescued along with her brother Charlie from Glen County. Lucy is a bundle of fun! She is super sweet and ready to cuddle on your lap at the drop of a hat. She gets along well with other dogs, but isn't so sure yet about big groups of pups. She loves the dog in her foster home and always wants to give him kisses. She's great with people and seems to love children. She's a tough little cookie and will probably be a confident dog. She's a quick learner and is picking up on potty training and the command "sit." The shelter paperwork labels them as pit mixes, but we were originally told Boxer mix, which we see, along with maybe Bulldog. Lucy doesn't care about labels though! She is just looking for love. Charlie and Lucy were left at a boarding kennel by their owner who never came to get them...their time was up in the shelter until Copper's Dream stepped in.
Shelly
Shelly is a 4-month old Shepherd mix we rescued from Porterville.
Barnaby
Barnaby is a 10-month old Corgi/Spaniel mix we rescued from Red Bluff along with his best bud Patrick (who are probably litter mates). He plays really well with the other dogs in his foster home. He follows his foster mom everywhere and she says, "I don't think I've met a happier dog in my life. He loves other dogs (and they love him), he was excellent during his bath, and he's mindful of his manners." He also loves to play fetch and will bring the ball right back. In short, they say, "This dog ROCKS!" Barnaby looks to have a little sliver of blue in his right eye.
Casey
Casey is a darling 10-month old Catahoula Leopard Hound we rescued from Shasta County. He's a sweet boy with lots of love to give. He wants to please and loves treats, so he'll be a fun one to train. He's quiet and relaxed in his crate, rides well in the car outside a kennel, and is well behaved on walks. Casey loves to play with toys in the yard and tosses the ball for himself. Casey appears to be house trained and hasn't had any accidents in the house. Casey was brought to the shelter by a landlord who found his tenant wasn't caring for the dogs in his home. Casey will be very appreciative to have a loving, caring home--which he so deserves. He weighs 44 pounds. VIDEO: Casey and Rusty
Sydney
Sydney is a sweet 9 month old Hound mix we rescued from Porterville. She's a friendly girl and an expert cuddler. She does great on leash and loves going for walks. She is a friendly gal that enjoys meeting people and dogs and has an easygoing, good-natured temperament. Sydney is a very well adjusted and handled being dropped off in the middle of San Francisco with ease. The cars and noise didn't bother her one bit. Although Sydney is close to adulthood, she still shows her puppy playfulness and will enjoy an active home. Sydney would make a wonderful family dog.
Anton
Anton is a handsome 1-year old German Shepherd-Husky mix we rescued from Delano. He's a friendly boy who loves people. He'll come up to say hello and is always ready for some attention. He loves to be hugged and get his ears rubbed. We adore his expressive face. Anton is a regal fellow--always standing up straight with his head up. We love his Husky tail! This happy guy is also good with other dogs and minds well. He is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and can be left in the yard for hours without touching a thing. VIDEO: Anton at the shelter
Scout
Scout is a 6-month old mixed breed we rescued from Glen County. This shelter photo doesn't do him justice! This sweet guy is looking to bond with someone. He was found in an abandoned house with his siblings and parents and was obviously undersocialized and neglected as a young pup. Scout is still amazingly trusting of humans though and was the friendliest of his litter. It still takes him a few days to warm up to people though, so he is looking for a patient family who will be willing to help him come out of his shell. Initially, Scout probably will not come to you when called, but does let people pick him up and pet him. If you are willing to take the time to form a bond with this adorable guy, he will surely reward your efforts a hundred fold and be your best friend for life.
Copper
Copper is an adorable 2.5-year old Shepherd mix we rescued from Porterville. This sweet boy is good with other dogs.
Riley
Riley is an approximately 4
to 5 year old Manchester Terrier mix we rescued from Red Bluff. This
sweet, playful guy really loves people (his tail is ALWAYS wagging), and
can spend hours sitting on your lap or playing outside with a ball or
toy. Riley is potty trained and does great in his crate (sleeping all
night without a peep). In the words of a foster, "He would be
great with a family with kids. He loves attention, but can be quiet and
mellow when you choose to be. He is an exceptionally happy dog, always
wagging his tail and always ready to do whatever you want, play, walk,
sleep, cuddle. Really easy dog, lots of very positive energy." Though
Riley seems to prefer people over other dogs, he has gotten along great
with the dominant female dog in his temporary foster home. Riley
has shown some leash reactivity (pulling and barking at other dogs that
pass him while he is on leash) so may do best in a home in a quiet
neighborhood. Leash reactivity can usually also be resolved with
training. VIDEOS: Being good with baby, Playing fetch with big dog, Relaxing inside, Being silly with ball, Loves playing ball, Being patient, In the grass, Jumping and playing, With his ball buddy
Nikki
Nikki is an approximately 2-year old shepherd mix we rescued from Porterville. This pretty girl has a stunning ice blue eye. She's an active and intelligent girl who loves people and other dogs.
She'll scratch at the door to let you know she needs to go out and is learning "heel" quickly. She does okay in her crate, but will whine some. She isn't very food motivated, but repetition and praise work well with her.

Blueberry
Blueberry is a darling 1-1.5 year old Border Collie mix we rescued from Porterville. This shelter photo doesn't do this pretty girl justice! Blueberry stepped off the transport truck and greeted a big crowd of people with her tail wagging. In the words of her foster, "Blueberry is an awesome dog. She is a really sweet and smart girl who really wants to please." She has a calm, self assured temperament and does well in the midst of many dogs and people.
Aaron
Aaron is a sweet 3-month old Australian Shepherd mix we rescued from Shasta County. He's a loving boy who adores a good snuggle and being held. He's quiet in his crate and will sleep through the night. He's getting along with the dogs in his temporary foster home
Chase
He'll be living in Santa Rosa with a young family and their cat. Chase is an approximately 10 month old goofy, overgrown, clumsy pup we rescued from Porterville just in time. Chase loves children and handles toddlers who scream and jump on him without flinching and with his adorable bobbed tail wagging furiously. Chase is a big boy at 60 pounds, but he is all sweetness and love. He even "hugs" people by putting his enormous paws on their hips and squeezing them around the waist. Chase still has a lot of puppy playfulness in him, pouncing around the yard like a jack rabbit and rolling over on his back for belly rubs, but he can also be very calm and relaxed. He loves to snooze in the sunny porch for hours at a time. Chase doesn't appear to be much of a chewer so far. He is also stunningly handsome with his eyespots and beautiful face markings. He looks very much like a stuffed animal and has the fuzzy thick coat of a sheep! VIDEO: Chase in yard
Luke
Luke is a 1-year old Cattle Dog/Terrier mix we rescued from Porterville. He is playful and very good with the kids, dogs, and cat in his foster home. He just follows the cat around and sniffs her. Luke can be a little shy when first meeting people or dogs, but once he warms up, he will follow you around everywhere. His energy level is moderate, and he is very happy strolling around the garden and smelling flowers. He is also crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night until morning. Luke will be a great addition to a family looking for an easygoing, quiet and friendly dog.
Melanie
Melanie is 1-2 year old Labrador mix we rescued from Porterville. This shelter photo doesn't do her justice! This adorable lady is good with other dogs.
Tuck
Tuck is a loving and playful 5-month old, 9 lb. Terrier mix pup we rescued from Delano. He enjoys the outdoors, sleeping in his crate at night, and playing with toys...but his absolute favorite thing is cuddling up for a nap with you! His foster says, "He's an amazing puppy that anyone would be lucky to have." Tuck likes going for walks or visiting dog parks, where he does well with the dogs he meets. His favorite toys are ones with ropes he can chew on or balls--he looks like a little soccer player when he plays with them. He's doing well with the dog in his foster home and didn't show interest in the family cat in their one meeting. Tuck's also done well with the children he's been around. He can be a little shy at first when meeting new people but doesn't mind them petting him. He's doing great with his potty training. This guy will stay small and has very adorable floppy ears. When he gets in your arms or on your lap, he just melts.
Heather
Heather is a very sweet 6-month old pit mix we rescued from Merced. This adorable girl is super friendly to dogs and people. She's also a great "heel" on leash. She doesn't mind getting a bath at all, and in fact, didn't really want to get out when it was over with! As soon as you bring a collar out she knows it's time to go somewhere and will offer up a very nice sit. Heather gets to stay with her fosters for a long, happy life.
Maya
Maya is a loving 5-month old Labrador mix we rescued from Redding. She's got so much love to give, likes to snuggle, and will give sweet kisses if you let her. This gorgeous girl is much cuter in person than her photos suggest! She came to our rescue shy, but she's adjusting to life outside the shelter quickly and is doing well meeting new dogs (including a friendly Boxer who slobbered all over her face), sleeping quietly in her crate throughout the night, and walking politely on leash. She is very patient and gentle with the young kids in her foster home (she loves them!), but if she hasn't see you in a while she'll jump up in excitement, so she's working on that. She has playful puppy bursts of energy but then settles down quickly. She's responsive to "no", listens well, and loves to follow her foster mom around the house.
Juno
Juno is a 5-month old Labrador/Hound mix we rescued from Redding along with her kennel mate Maya, who looks like she could be her sister. She's a snuggler and loves to play.
Ringo
Ringo is 2-year old, 25-30lb terrier mix we rescued from Tehama County. He loves to give hugs and receive back scratches in return--he does a big happy stretch as a sign you're hitting all the right spots! He takes to his crate well and is eager to please. Ringo is friendly with the new people he meets, and a little indifferent so far with other dogs. He did manage to find his way into the pool and enjoy a good swim, so maybe he's got some water dog in him! He'll make for a very loving, loyal, well-behaved companion. This affectionate boy can get a wonderfully happy look on his face when content--like when he's playing with tennis balls! He's fine being picked up and handled, and the shelter staff say he's done well with other dogs.
Zip
Zip is a 10-month old Lab/Border Collie mix we rescued from Tehama County. This happy, playful guy is doing great with the kids and cat in his foster home and is an overall great family dog. In the words of his foster, "He is a really good, happy dog! His fur is so soft and shiny! He goes into his crate without protest and is quiet as a mouse all night long for sleep time." This affectionate boy might sneak in a few kisses if you let him! Zip enjoys a good walk and playing fetch. He's slightly interested in the cat in his foster home, but after sniffing her he moves on. Like any puppy, he'll need some training for his puppy ways, but he already knows "sit", "shake", and "down" commands. He's also doing great with his potty training.
Waldo
Waldo is an 8-10 month old Lab/Hound mix we rescued from Delano. From his foster: "Waldo is doing great in his foster home, getting along with the cats and his doggy foster brother, but his #1 interest is people. Waldo has the fastest tail in the west and uses it often to tell you how happy you make him! He also loves belly rubs." He's sleeping through the night out of his crate without incident. He comes when called and knows "sit." He's still a big puppy, so he'll need what all puppies do--some nice walks and toys to play with! He's eager to please and is responsive to his people. He'd probably love doggy school, according to his foster. He is super friendly and is a happy guy when he gets some attention, but does not jump up or get too excited. He is great on leash and loves to walk. At the shelter Waldo would give other dogs kisses through the gates when he walked by (friendly boy!). He likes to play, but is happiest just sitting and getting his ears rubbed. Shelter volunteers said, "Waldo is one of the nicest, most gentle, easy-going big dogs the shelter has ever worked with."
Lily
Lily is a super sweet and playful 1-year old Cattle Dog/Terrier mix we rescued Porterville. While she came from the shelter very timid, with a little tender love and care, she's started to come out of her shell and really let her personality shine. She's a total love bug and loves to curl up with you. She doesn't have accidents in the house, is great on leash, and she enjoys playing with other dogs. Lily aims to please and learns quickly, so despite not knowing a lot of commands right now, we think she'll be up to speed in no time. In the words of her foster, "Lily deserves a loving and safe home, and she will definitely be an amazing addition to any family!" She's a darling girl--very sweet and friendly with everyone she meets.
Gulliver
Gulliver is a 1-year old Otter Hound/Tibetan Terrier mix we rescued from Red Bluff.
Star
Star, called "North Star" at the shelter, found her forever home just one day after rescue.
Lucky
Lucky is a very handsome 10-month old black Labrador with a great temperament. He was an owner surrender, ordered to be euthanized immediately because he failed as a hunting dog (he was afraid of the shot gun blast). Now, better days are ahead for this sweet boy!
Phoenix
Phoenix is a darling 10-week old black Labrador mix puppy we rescued from Red Bluff.
Venus
Venus is a 4-month old Border Collie mix we rescued from Delano. She's a very friendly, sweet pup with a cute smile, beautiful markings and a sleek brindle coat. She loves people and is very good with other dogs and with cats at the shelter. Venus is still a puppy and needs someone to hold and hug her once in awhile. She minds well and trusts everyone. VIDEO: Venus at the shelter
Gus
Gus is a 3-year old mix the shelter listed as an Australian Shepherd mix, but we see Border Collie/Pointer. He was rescued from Fresno and liked all the dogs he was kenneled with at the shelter, especially the big ones, but did fine with the small ones, too. Gus knows sit, down (well, rolls on his back) and shake. He's also quiet in his crate.
Hannah
Hannah is a 1-year old Lab/Border Collie mix we rescued from Bakersfield. She's a sweetheart who's shown to be playful with other dogs she's met. She loves people and met her fosters with a friendly hello, snuggles and licks. She's also done great with a little 1-year old child she met. She would make a great pup for first time dog people. She was temporarily fostered in Bakersfield before coming into our rescue and they told us she's crate-trained, good with cats and kids (in addition to other dogs).
Ryan
Ryan is a sweet, lovable 1-year old Shepherd mix we rescued from Porterville. He's a big love bug who will crawl into your lap if you let him. He goes into his crate without an issue and is happy to sleep quietly near his temporary foster while she works on the computer. He's been totally fine with the many dogs he's met. He has great manners, and will go right into his crate when you tell him to. VIDEOS: Ryan playing, Ryan playing some more, Ryan the night of his rescue
Patches
Patches is an adorable 9-month old mix we rescued from Porterville. Her shelter paperwork says she's a shepherd mix, but she looks like a heeler/cattle dog to us. She loves people, dogs, cats, and children (though her foster says she may be too exuberent for very little ones). She also enjoys long walks on the beach, going new places, and meeting new people. Her foster says Patches will sit for treats and would love to go to dog school. She walks well on leash without pulling and would be a good jogging companion. Patches enjoys getting exercise but is also happy to curl up and relax with you. At night she's doing well in her crate. She also rides quietly in the car. Before coming to us she really only knew life in a shelter, so she is ever so grateful for a real home.
Cody
Cody is a loving 6-month old Patterdale Terrier (Fell Terrier)/Labrador Retriever mix we rescued from Shasta County. According to his foster, he's very affectionate and aims to please. He's shown to be potty trained and responds well to a gentle "no". He knows the commands for sit, shake, and lay down (does best with treats)--his foster thinks he'll be easy to train. He actually came into rescue knowing the command for "high five" so he was likely in a home before going to the shelter. He also walks very well on leash and does great with other dogs. He's got a playful, cute personality. Everyone who meets him thinks he's adorable. Cody's been a quiet boy in his foster home and hasn't barked yet. He sleeps through the night in his crate, but is starting to wish he had free reign at night. He is living with a cat in his foster home, and they interact while supervised. Right now he seems more interested than aggressive. Cody weighs about 35-40 pounds.
Rigby
Rigby is a friendly, playful 4-year old Heeler mix we rescued from Fresno. He greets people with a wagging tail and loves rump scratches. He came from the shelter already knowing "sit", responds very well to any kind of "no" or "uh uh" tone, and he takes treats gently. He loves toys, LOVES tennis balls + fetch, and is a playful little guy (in his temp. foster home he'd keep going back to the doggy toy bin to find a new toy to play with, especially squeaky ones). He did really well in his first post-rescue bath, just sitting patiently throughout and then afterwards giving some appreciative licks before snuggling under the towels. He loves his new "Angry Birds" toy (featured in the video below), and will be happy to engage you in a game of tug-o-war. The morning of his rescue he came directly to an adoption event and did well with all the people and dogs he met--greeting everyone with a friendly wagging tail. On the ride to his temporary foster home he just curled up in the backseat of the car. He doesn't seem to mind being crated, either for a quiet nap or bedtime (his first night he's gone in all on his own when you open the door). He has slept through the night in his crate without a peep. He's done well with a dog really getting in face, even when he's got his own toy. He's not a jumpy boy, un-flinching when someone has dropped something near him. If you're eating take-out on the couch, he won't come over and beg--instead will just stay curled up in his bed in the living room. He must have lived in a home before, because he seems to feel at home so easily. He's seen the family cat in his temporary foster home through his crate and didn't have a reaction, but he hasn't been loose with a cat. VIDEOS: Rigby loves fetch, Rigby's first night post-rescue
Grover
Grover is a 12-14 week old terrier mix puppy we rescued from Fresno. He's a confident little guy with a lot of personality who loves to cuddle and be held. He's being fostered with some big adult dogs and has a lot of fun running around with them. He's already learned how to climb up on the couch despite his size, and when it comes to food or a treat, he's going to be the first in line (crawling over or under the big dogs as necessary!). Grover is also a fan of toys and will retriever the smaller ones. He's yet to have an accident in the house, so you could say he's doing well with potty training! He did well at a recent adoption event - just hung out in volunteer's lap and enjoyed getting some lovin'. He's doing great with the big dogs in his foster home--he fits right in and isn't intimidated. VIDEOS: Grover in the yard, Quick little Grover, Grover protects the house...
Minnie
Minnie is a sweet, quiet, and lovable 18-month old terrier mix we rescued from Delano. She's mama to Drea, Daphne, Colby, Jack, and Berto. She's a friendly, happy pup, who loves to play and snuggle--that's a lot of wonderful in a tiny 10lb package! She'd love to curl up in your lap (or next to the family cat, which she did in her first temporary foster home). It's hard to imagine this sweetheart was left in a backyard when her people moved. She was found with Hank and Hardy, also up for adoption through our rescue, who have already been adopted. Minnie is looking forward to a loving family to call her own. We found out just after rescuing Minnie that she was pregnant. She gave birth to 5 healthy puppies (Colby, Jack, Berto, Daphne and Drea), who have all been adopted as well.
Daphne
Daphne is a 6-week old puppy, and one of five from her litter up for adoption when they're weaned in a couple of weeks. Her mother is Minnie, a terrier mix we rescued that came to us pregnant.
Her foster says she's a little sweetie, and a total cuddler. She just wants to be held, get tummy rubs, and play!

Colby is a 6-week old puppy, and one of five from his litter up for adoption when they're weaned in a couple of weeks. His mother is Minnie, a terrier mix we rescued that came to us pregnant.
His foster says he's so sweet, loving, and will probably be a very mellow, silly guy as he grows up. Like all the pups, they think he'd do amazing with kids. We estimate this litter will be 20-30lbs when full grown.

Jack
Jack is a 6-week old puppy, and one of five from his litter up for adoption when they're weaned in a couple of weeks. His mother is Minnie, a terrier mix we rescued that came to us pregnant. Jack is probably the most reserved of all the puppies, but he is opening up and trusting people more each day. He's just as playful as the rest once he gets to know you. Like all the pups, his foster thinks he'd do well with kids. We estimate this litter will be 20-30lbs when full grown.
Drea
Drea is a 6-week old puppy, and one of five from her litter up for adoption when they're weaned in a couple of weeks. Her mother is Minnie, a terrier mix we rescued that came to us pregnant. Her foster says she's the biggest of the litter and has been the first one out of the gate for everything-- the first to eat solid food, the first to open her eyes and ears. She's the most adventurous in play and would be a lot of fun in her new household. We estimate this litter will be 20-30lbs when full grown.
Berto
Berto is a 6-week old puppy, and one of five from his litter up for adoption when they're weaned in a couple of weeks. His mother is Minnie, a terrier mix we rescued that came to us pregnant. Berto's foster says he's a little love and was the first to show interest in people and giving them kisses. He absolutely loves to be held and is an easy, mello pup you could carry around all day. Like all the pups, his foster thinks he'd do well with kids. We estimate this litter will be 20-30lbs when full grown. VIDEO: All the puppies (6 weeks)
Simba
Simba is a 13-week old hound/pit mix puppy we rescued along with his siblings Kiara, Kovu, Zazu, and Nala. He is doing great with the kids in his foster home (ages 3 & 11). In the words of his foster, "he's got charm!" People are attracted to his sweet puppy face and beautiful coat--they love to stop and say hello to Simba and he happily obliges with a wagging, friendly tail. He's pretty mellow for a puppy, walks well on leash, and listens well when told not to do something. At his recent vet appointment to remove his neuter stitches, he was perfectly behaved and easy going. Simba is affectionate, playful, loves to give kisses, and doesn't nip. If you sit on the floor with him he'll crawl into your lap for some cuddle time. He's met another puppy of a similar age and did great with him--showing no toy or food aggression. He sleeps through the night with access to puppy pads and is doing great overall with his potty training.
Maria
Maria is a 3.5-year old brown Catahoula mix we're rescuing from Fresno. She's a pretty, friendly girl. This shelter photo doesn't do her justice!
Daisy
Daisy is a 2-year old pit/Shepherd mix we rescued from Delano along with her best friend Duke. This shelter photo doesn't do this pretty girl justice. She has a heart as big as Texas and is a very sweet, friendly girl. She gets along really well with the other dogs in her temporary foster home. She loves people and will say "hello" to anyone she meets. She's great with dogs of all sizes (including little buddy, Duke). She's always ready for a hug and a few kisses.
Shelter volunteers believe Daisy and Duke once lived in a home together before they were picked up as strays. VIDEO: Daisy & Duke (formerly named Leo & Casey)

Yancy
Yancy is a 9-month old terrier mix we rescued from Delano. He's sweet and loves people, attention, and treats. He's also great at fetch! He's got a playful personality and will bring a lot of smiles to his new family. He is getting along really well with the big dogs in his foster home. He is wonderful in the house, very trustworthy, and can be left loose at night and he won't touch anything. He also seems to be potty trained and will ring the bells on the door when he wants to go out. Shelter volunteers say he did fine with cats at the shelter. At about 15 pounds, Yancy has a big dog personality in a small dog body.
Zion
Zion is a sweet, mellow 4.5-month old Labrador Retriever mix we rescued from Shasta County. He's a quiet and reserved love bug. As you'll see in the "Zion" video below, he's also playful and patient with the young boy in his temporary foster home.
Sam
Sam is a stunningly handsome 1.5-year old black Labrador mix we rescued from Shasta County. His hair is a little longer than a lab's, suggesting he might be mixed with Golden Retriever. Sam is a large boy at about 70 pounds, but his frame is slender and tall. Sam has shown that he has the temperament that adopters can only dream of - he has been great with dogs, even the unruly and dominant ones! He shrugs off being growled at and continues to wag his tail. Sam also let a toddler bang on his crate without any reaction and just licked her fingers when she stuck them through the gate. Sam is the rare dog that was an owner surrender and so is very used to being in the home and appears house-trained and crate-trained already. A great dog for first time dog owners looking for a large breed.
Gwen
Gwen is a 7-8-month old blue pit mix puppy we rescued from Red Bluff. This playful sweetheart loves toys and prancing around with them joyfully in her mouth. She loves to chase down tennis balls, but is still learning the whole "bring the ball back" part. You can easily take her toys away from her and she does great in her crate.
She is a smart gal, learning sit, down, and walking well on leash quickly. Gwen also takes treats gently--what a good girl! VIDEO: Gwen with toy

Buster
Buster is a 5-month old adorable chihuahua mix we rescued from Merced. He's got a little docked tail.
Harriet
Harriet is a beautiful 8-month old Shepherd mix we rescued from Devore. She's a sweet dog, appears potty-trained, and really enjoys the other dog in her foster home. Her foster says she's "such a great dog". Harriet takes her cues from her people and the other dogs in the family, so the lucky adopter who welcomes Harriet into their home will get a faithful sidekick. She came to us very shy and unsure of herself, but has been coming around wonderfully in her foster home. She will need a patient family willing to work with her to fully blossom. We love her ears and soulful eyes! VIDEOS: Harriet learns sit, Harriet and her new toys, Harriet plays chase
Kovu
Kovu is a happy, calm, 12-week old hound/pit mix puppy we rescuing along with his siblings Zazu, Simba, Kiara and Nala. He is doing great with the dog in his foster home--they're always playing or sleeping together. Given his mellow personality, his foster thinks he'd even do well with an older dog in his new home. He has a sweet, playful personality and loves to be near you. He adores people, cuddling, and hanging out on your lap. He sleeps in his crate quietly through the night. Kovu is doing pretty good on leash (loves walks). He's also doing great with his potty training and only has "excited puppy pees" now. His foster says it's the best young puppy she's had potty training-wise.
Bella - 1st adoption of 2012!
Bella is a super cute terrier mix we rescued from Devore. The shelter listed her as 5 months but given her teeth we think she's closer to 3 months old. In her temporary foster home she's done fine with cats and big dogs.
She's a little bundle of energy, very happy to be safe and out of the shelter! We estimate she's around 5 pounds right now. More photos and info to come! VIDEOS: Bella & Calla playing, Bella says hi to the cat, Bella pawing a big dog
