How to adopt (pre-COVID-19)

COVID-19 UPDATE
Picture

Foster meeting

This 1:1 meeting with a dog through their foster home is best if you have a specific pup you'd like to meet. The first step is the adoption app.

Events: none right now

Best to meet a lot of dogs at once. Not all dogs come to events, and we post the roster attendance the evening before.

Foster-to-adopt

For a dog who needs a foster home, we give you a 3-day priority period to decide on adoption in exchange for you fostering them. Note: we are seeing a high volume of foster applications - thank you for your patience.

Pre-COVID-19: after you submit an application....

Step 1: Schedule a meeting with the foster family
  • The first person to submit an application for a particular pup will be given priority to adopt, assuming they can meet at the earliest time that the foster family can accommodate them.
  • If you can't meet a dog immediately, and other applicants are able to, then it's possible other applicants will be given priority to adopt.
  • Why? We don't want dogs to miss out on a home, when there's more shelter pups waiting for a spot in our rescue.

Step 3. Arrive at the meeting with a leash and collar
  • If the foster family approves of the adoption at the end of your meeting, you'll be allowed to take the dog home with you (yay!).
  • Come prepared with a leash and collar.
  • If you don't bring your own supplies, you may be able to purchase Copper's Dream supplies for a $20 donation ($10 for the leash and $10 for the collar).

Step 4. Pay adoption fee
  • Your dog's adoption fee is listed on their bio. See all adoption fees.
  • You can pay your dog's adoption fee online.

Step 5. Receive adoption paperwork
Within 48 hours of adopting you'll receive the official adoption contract and vaccination/medical history through email.

Woof! We're an all-breed dog rescue serving the San Francisco Bay Area.
