Fosters are superheroes

As a foster-based rescue, every person who opens their home is a life saver. Work full time? Tiny apartment with no yard? Only weekends to give? We have all kinds of dogs for all kinds of fosters. 

It can be hard to say goodbye, but there's a dog out there waiting in a shelter hoping to say hello.

Types of Fosters Needed

Foster to Adopt

If you're looking to adopt, fostering is a great way to find the right fit. Skip the foster app and go straight to the adoption application.

Bridge Foster

Rescue commitments need to be made fast as shelters can't hold dogs. Once a rescue commitment is made they need to leave the shelter ASAP. We may need a few extra days to line up a long term regular foster. Having a foster to bridge that gap ensures the dog can be rescued and will be safe. This is a 3-5 day commitment - pick up on day of arrival and fast turn around time for quality photos and personality info.

Regular Foster

Able to make a commitment to house until adopted, which is ideal or until provided advance date. This includes providing quality photos and profile information, attending adoption events, assiting with vet appts and meeting with adopters.

how long do I have to foster for?
We appreciate a 1-month commitment or more. Only have a week or weekend to give? We could still use your help!
What if i work full time? 
We have lots of fosters who work full time. We'll help you find an adult dog that's a good match. A dog would much rather be left alone in your home while you're at work than left in the shelter.
WHAT IF I LIVE IN AN APARTMENT? 
Yards don't exercise dogs, people do! Many of our fosters live in apartments and enjoy taking their foster dogs on nice neighborhood walks, trips to the park, or weekend hikes. A rescue dog won't judge your digs - they're happy for any home
Do I get to pick my foster dog? 
We work to match you with a dog that fits your household and lifestyle. We also put out pleas for specific dogs, and alert our fosters of the dogs we are interested in rescuing so they know first who might be available.
what if I decide to adopt? 
If you fall in love, adoption is a possibility! Foster parents have to go through the same basic steps as any prospective adopter and will need to pay the required adoption donation.  If you'd like to consider adoption from the get-go, learn about our Foster to Adopt program.
Do you cover vet care?
We're responsible for all necessary vet expenses. Refer to the foster app and manual for details on our policy. ​
DO You provide supplies? 
We provide food, leashes, collars, and crates for our foster pups to borrow. If you have these supplies on hand, even better.
Where do I need to live?
Our fosters need to live in the immediate SF Bay Area so there's ready access to our partner veterinarians and our adopter base.
